On April 2, we announced that The Cusp has expanded our comprehensive women's telemedicine service to New York. While we’ve been working toward this goal for several months, we never could have imagined the health environment that we’ve all found ourselves in. Or that New York would be the hotspot for a pandemic that it has become.
Initially, we had imagined marking our NY launch with celebration. And we truly are excited to make menopause care available via video visits to the women of New York. Many menopause symptoms—hot flashes, insomnia, anxiety, irritability, weight gain, and more—can be exacerbated by stress. And if there’s ever been a more stressful time to be a woman in midlife in New York, we can’t remember it.
But we’ve also asked ourselves how we, as a small start-up, might roll up our sleeves a little higher to help New York and California meet the astronomical health care needs wrought by COVID-19. Our response is to donate 50% of our proceeds during the months of April and May to NYU's COVID-19 Care & Relief Fund and the UCSF COVID-19 Response Fund.
NYU Winthrop Hospital created The COVID-19 Care & Relief Fund to provide critical resources for areas of their hospital experiencing the greatest impact during this time.
UCSF is coordinating with colleagues across Northern California to care for patients and protect the health of their faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Funds will be used to address the needs of patients and caregivers impacted by COVID-19, as well as to combat COVID-19 through research and educational efforts.
Access to quality telemedicine is more important now than it has been since its inception. We’re proud to help lead the way into this new healthcare modality, in CA and NY, as well as more states in the near future. But we’re deeply humbled by the courage and skill of the healthcare providers who are meeting COVID-19 head on, in person, often without the equipment they need to do it safely and most effectively.
Stay well, stay connected, and when at all possible, please stay home,
Taylor Sittler, CEO & The Cusp Team
